Family Prayers

“The family that prays together stays together.” Venerable Patrick Peyton

 PENITENTIAL RITE

I confess to Almighty God, and to you my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned,

In my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do;

Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault;

Therefore I ask Blessed Mary, ever-virgin, all the angels and saints,

And you my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Amen.

GLORIA

Glory to God in the highest, and peace to people of good will.

We praise You, we bless You, we adore You, we glorify You,

We give You thanks for Your great glory.

Lord God, Heavenly King, O God, Almighty Father,

Lord Jesus Christ, only begotten Son;

Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,

You take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;

You take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;

You are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For You alone are the Holy One, You alone are the Lord, You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father.

Amen.

MAGNIFICAT

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,

And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,

For He has looked with favor upon His lowly servant.

Henceforth all generations shall call me blessed,

For the Almighty has done great things for me, and Holy is His name.

And His mercy is from generation to generation upon those who fear Him.

He has shown the strength of His arm, He has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of His servant, for He has remembered His promise of mercy.

The promise He made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children forever.

Amen.

PRAYER OF PROTECTION TO THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF JESUS

Lord Jesus, by faith in your merits, I now take your precious blood and sprinkle it over myself and my family, right from the crown of my head to the very souls of my feet.

Lord Jesus, please keep me free today from evil, sin, temptation; satan’s attacks and applications, fear of darkness, fear of man, sickness, disease, doubts, anger; all calamities and all that is not of your kingdom.

Fill me Lord Jesus with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and grant me the gifts of wisdom, knowledge, faith, understanding, and discernment, so that I will live today in your glory by doing what is right.

I praise you Jesus, I thank you Jesus, I love you Jesus, I adore you Jesus.

Amen.

CONSECRATION TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you all of my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass being said throughout the world this day, for the intentions of the Holy Father, and our Blessed Mother.

Amen.

PRAYER FOR OUR CATHOLIC FAMILY HOMESTEAD

Holy, Holy, Holy God – I present myself to you with all of my good deeds, my charity, and my accomplishments as nothing. Even if I labored an eternity for you, I would still not be able to say that I merited anything, for I have done nothing on my own, rather all things in and through you.

So I kneel before you in prayer to ask of you a great intention and I have nothing to give you in return.  Yet boldly and strongly do I request, “Grant what I desire because I ask in the passion of your Son, Jesus Christ”

I therefore ask you to grant Our Lady’s intentions one hundred fold. I ask you to establish Her Heavenly Queenship here in a unique way, for I desire her to be the foundress of our Catholic Family Homestead, and I beg you to give her unlimited powers to accomplish her plans.

I consecrate every plant, animal, and person in this place to you through her, so that you and the Holy Family might dwell here in love, peace, and joy, forever.

Amen.

CHAPLET OF DIVINE MERCY - CHANT

Oh blood and water that gushed forth as a fountain of mercy for us, I trust in You.

Oh blood and water that gushed forth as a fountain of mercy for us, I trust in You.

Oh blood and water that gushed forth as a fountain of mercy for us, I trust in You.

Jesus I trust in You.   Jesus I trust in You.   Jesus I trust in You.

Amen.

PSALM 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

He brings me to lay down in green pastures,

He leads me beside still waters,

He restores my soul.

He leads me in the path of righteousness for his name’s sake,

And yeah, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I shall fear no evil, for He is with me.

His rod and His staff, they comfort me and give me courage.

He prepares before me a table in the presence of my foes,

He anoints my head with oil, my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall be with me all the days of my life,

And I shall dwell in house of the Lord forever.

Amen.

PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI

Lord, make me a channel of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love

Where there is injury, pardon

Where there is doubt, faith

Where there is despair, hope

Where there is darkness, light

And where there is sadness, joy.

Oh Divine Master, please grant that I may not so much seek

To be consoled as to console,

To be understood as to understand

To be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive,

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

And it is in dying to ourselves that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.
